Colorado State University - Summer Financial Aid

Summer Financial Aid

Colorado State University uses the same Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information you submitted for the current academic school year to determine your need and eligibility for the summer term. The FAFSA for the 2007-2008 academic year will be used for the Summer 2008 session. If you have already completed the FAFSA for this academic school year (2007-2008), you do not need to submit another one.

If you did not apply for financial aid for the academic school year, you must submit a FAFSA for the Summer 2008 term by June 1, 2008. Be sure to use the 2007-2008 FAFSA.

Complete the Colorado State University 2007-2008 Summer Financial Aid Application starting in April, 2008 and no later than June 30, 2008. This is available on RAMweb. If you are eligible to receive financial aid for Summer 2008, you will receive an e-mail telling you to go to RAMweb to review your summer award and accept your Federal Direct Loan if you have been offered one. Your Financial Aid Guide is available on RAMweb by selecting the Financial Aid Awards page for 2007-2008.

Summer aid eligibility is determined by the length of the particular session(s) you attend and the number of credits in which you are enrolled.

Summer aid consists of Federal Direct Loans for undergraduates and graduates and Federal Pell Grant for undergraduates. If you exhausted your Federal Direct Loan and Federal Pell Grant eligibility during the academic school year, you will not be able to receive any federal aid during the summer. In some cases you may be eligible to apply for a private alternative loan. See a Student Financial Services representative if you want to apply for an alternative loan.

To be eligible for summer financial aid, you must:

  1. Be admitted to a degree-seeking program. If you will receive your degree at the end of Spring 2008, you must be admitted to a new degree-seeking program for Summer 2008.
  2. Be enrolled in and maintain summer enrollment for a minimum of 6 regular on-campus credits as an undergraduate; 5 regular on-campus credits as a graduate. Audit and Test-Out credits do not count.
  3. Not be academically dismissed from the University. If you are academically dismissed at the end of Spring 2008, any summer financial aid will be canceled and must be repaid.
  4. Be making satisfactory academic progress when your summer financial aid application is processed and at the time funds are credited to your University student account.
  5. Be receiving summer financial aid at only one school. If you are attending two schools during the summer, you must notify the financial aid office at both schools.

The earliest we are able to credit your Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Loan money is 10 days prior to the first day of the first summer session you attend, but no earlier than May 12, 2008, provided you meet all the disbursement and eligibility criteria.

Based on the above dates, it is possible that your money will not be available to you until after the June 10, 2008 University payment due date..
